So who is this guy who thinks he can claim to be THE Kwaj Kat? I think we all know that there were HUNDREDS of Kwaj Kats, not just one. Someone recently posted a question on one of my other pages about the origins of the Kwaj Kat monicker, and while it may come from earlier than this, my introduction to it was in the form of T-shirts sold on Kwaj during our mid-70s tour. Many other kids my age (not to mention younger and older) had one, so we were ALL Kwaj Kats. There were also shirts depicting "Roi Rats" (I still have one of these, but of course it's way too small to actually wear) and even a "Meck Mouse" shirt that appeared more rarely. I don't know how long these shirts were sold on Kwaj, but they were prevalent in the 70s. If you still have one, it's a collector's item! If anyone knows more about this topic than I do, please share your knowledge with the rest of us.

Comment by GUEST on 2009-02-01 05:13:49 Rex, I remember my dad Steve Sullivan having a Meck Mouse shirt when we were on Kwaj from 1976-79. Fitting, since he worked at Meck! :) We kids (Kim, Kevin and Kirk), and our mom Maureen Sullivan had the Kwaj Kat shirts. Great pics of the Roi Rats shirt. I recognize a lot of names! Great site! Keep up the good work! Kirk Sullivan U.S. Navy (Retired) Katy, TX | |
